Route 66 is a living cross-section of America: its wide-open distances, its small-town main streets, the neon, the diners, and the surprises you only find when you leave the interstate and discover the historic road.
But today, many aspects of Route 66 are fragile.
Buildings deteriorate. Family businesses struggle. Nostalgia crowds out the road's full and accurate history. The interstate pulls traffic—and dollars—off the old road. Without active, coordinated work, the very things that make Route 66 so important to our history and culture will quietly disappear.
The Great American Road Rally (GARR) is a national television event created to celebrate Route 66 through cars, celebrities, storytelling, and adventure, while raising money for the charitable organizations involved, including the Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership.
Support the thousands of people who live and work along the Road by donating today, keeping its traditions and culture alive. Your donation to the Road Ahead’s Route 66 Preservation & Economic Development Grant Program will support the people along the road working to:
Preserve Route 66 to Keep it Authentic
Improve the Road’s Local Economies
Tell Route 66’s Whole Story
Beginning September 16, tune in each Wednesday night at 9pmET/8pm CT to follow the Great American Road Rally across America - and contribute your support to saving America’s most famous road.
